Progress Sneak Peek - January 24


Hello everyone and welcome to a new sneak peek of Lucky Paradox

These last weeks have been diversified, and I've been trying new things, this to make sure I have a correct structure for the updates that will be released throughout the year to be as optimal as possible.

On the one hand, I have been fixing all the bugs that have been reported by the community, though in some I have been stuck by the limits of the Ren'py game engine, however, I think that with the next updates of the engine these problems will be solved with time, even one of these bugs allows obtaining unlimited money, although I must be honest, if the bug is for the benefit of the player I do not care too much hahaha

I’ve been thinking it would be wonderful if I take a few days off, since during these months I’ve been working really hard, but that was affecting my motivation and energy, and as you know that could negatively affect to what I do with the game.

But now let's get to the important stuff... 

I have been experimenting with three different versions of the game. I have done this to choose the best option on how to proceed during the next update.

While the main story remains the same for all three versions, my intention is always to include new gameplay and also fun side content. This is a great way to bring the game to life and get away from the main story, it's like taking a break and getting to know other perspectives of Argleton.

Why have I decided to make these three versions?

Because it's content that I would like to add in this year's updates, however, it's too much content for a single update and the wait would be too long to complete that giant update.

So, let's go with some details, keep in mind that none of this includes the main story, as this is the same for each version. This only includes secondary content

This may include some spoilers, so I will separate into different parts to avoid them:

  • First update is mostly for the Museum and utility to Charisma, Knowledge and Subtlety: we will get a lot of more content for this, also the attributes will have more relevance than just to get more money, now if you have the enough level of these attributes you will discover more information like the birthdays of the girls (Sizes, tastes, etc.), also we will have finally the story for Liz Grant and new functions for the Museum (Collect important stuff for the Museum, Awards, etc.)
  • The second update is intended to give more depth to the Bagliore's story and utility to the Fitness Attribute: It includes side stories and some special events. SPOILER: The second part of Kaede's story (With a series of fights in the style of Bruce Lee's Game of Death), a small expansion in Cassandra's story (She becomes our disciple) and delves into the rivalry with Shizuka. If everything is completed, it unlocks a crossover event with a bunch of Power Ranger references where our team must defeat a huge bad guy (A powerful fighter who was a former rival of Lissette, the former Golden Dragon.)
  • The third update seeks to add content to Kamen Rainor's store: The gift store and the birthdays of some girls (Starting with the main ones): A side story involving Kendra and Alice (Now adding interactions with the girls in the store) is included where we will seek to discover the true identity of Kamen Rainor. Also included would be the gift store when talking to Alice (Similar to the Costume store) and we can use these gifts for birthday events.

In addition to this, there is also other optional content that I would like to include, although this would depend on the development of updates, I have not yet thought when it will be added, but it is confirmed that it will be added at some point.

  • More detailed interactions, such as kissing, hugging or other things, depending on our relationship level (Red Hearts). When interacting with a girl, we will see some extra buttons for this type of interactions.
  • A Bar system, where we will be able to prepare alcoholic drinks in the bar, this will result in some fun events. You can invite a girl to drink with you, then, depending on the evolution of the conversation and the alcohol mix of the drink you prepared, one ends up getting drunk, or both, triggering unexpected situations. To know what drink to prepare, we must know the tastes of the girl, this with the help of our Charisma, Subtlety and Relationship. We will have more drink options available according to our level of Creativity and Knowledge. And the level of alcoholic resistance depends on each girl, we will have girls with low resistance to alcohol as Prim and Maxy, and others with higher resistance as Sasha and Kaede. This is a complex system, but I think it would be a pretty unique and cool addition.
  • Bonnie's side story, which unlocks the special Oktoberfest events, with some special costumes. Bonnie is the girl with the highest alcohol resistance in the game, so she'll be someone hard to beat.
  • Felicia's side story, where we will be able to get revenge once and for all, or delve deeper into her story and perhaps, empathize with her. It all depends on the decisions you seek to make.
  • Add tier levels to Depravity Scenes (Purple Hearts): The depravity level represented with the purple hearts in each girl's profile will now have a real utility. Depending on the level of depravity, we will be able to unlock new levels for the eroge scenes. For example, during the event in the hot springs with the three dragons, we will be able to do more things with Kaede and Yui, if the depravity level with Kaede or Yui is sufficiently something, instead of just receiving Shizuka's service. In short, it allows you to lengthen the eroge scenes with extensions, with new positions and fetishes. As always, it will depend on the personality of each girl and this content will be added progressively during the development of the game.
  • Redesign of Argleton's hairdressing salon and graphic redesign of the "Gallery" of memories.

New utilities for the costumes:

  • Celestine's side story and dance contests, this will unlock new ballerina outfits for each of the girls.
  • Clara's side story and Beauty contests, also with new costume options and special events.
  • Daisy's side story and fishing contests, with new rewards in money and relationship with the girls. If there is luck, you will be able to find the great treasure Big Whoop on the island of the monkey.
  • Cosplay contests with Kendra and Alice, they are the jurors.

With these contests, we will be able to unlock trophies that will be added to the Argleton museum, as well as money prizes and new interactions.

There are also new girls, but this is secondary for now, as my priority is to add content with the girls that are currently in the game, but here we go:

  • Janis Johnson: A hippie girl who comes to Argleton to learn about hairdressing and beauty from Pierre. She is a very liberal and relaxed girl, she is Celestine's best friend.
  • Penelope "Poppy" Petters: Argleton's candy store girl, with a personality disorder, sometimes she is a sweet girl (with pink hair and colorful clothes) and other times someone with anger management problems. We can tell her mood by looking at her clothes and hair color.
  • Caprice Bears the Explorer: She is a girl we will meet wandering through the forests of Argleton. She is quite an eccentric girl who survives on nature by eating exotic things (or insects and raw meat), she is quite funny. Along with Liz and Layla, she's the one you'd want to have around to survive a Zombie apocalypse.
  • Annie Rose the Archaeologist: A creative girl, known for being the best tattoo artist in Argleton (although she's the only one). She came to town to do some Archaeology studies, but finally decided to change the course of her life after some unexpected events.

Finally, I'm working on some new special bunny costumes for Valentine's Day. Let's see how it all turns out, as there is a lot to be done.

There are still some characters to reveal, new side stories (Like Sarah Grant's), more Halloween events (With Luna) and more interesting features, but I think this post is getting too long (That was she said). Even if we keep growing, I might think about adding a house system or even time travel, but one step at a time.

I still have to think about what content I'm going to include in the next 0.8 version, as there's a lot to take from, but it's humanly impossible to do everything at once. We will have to wait for the Overview post that I hope to have ready soon, anyway, I would like to know your opinions.

The bar interactions and more interactions overall seem fun. I always like the situation having a randomly different outcome every time, gives it more replay value

I'm so excited about what comes next.  You've already created a game and a story that is near and dear to my heart.  I'm literally checking every few hours to see if the next update is out yet.  Thank you for what you've done and what you're doing!  As for opinions, I'm very excited by what you marked above as the second update (the Bagliore story), and the first update (the Museum) sounds great as well.  The Kamen Rainor stuff I don't care about at all.  His story and personality hasn't hooked me yet, but maybe you'll change that in the future!  Your stories are so endearing you've earned my trust.  So if Rainor has new things to experience, I'll check them out, knowing you do great work.  Thanks, Stawer.  I hope you get your few weeks' vacation you're talking about.  I just hope you take the vacation AFTER this next update, rather than before.  I need my fix!
