Progress Sneak Peek - May 24
Hello everyone and welcome to a new sneak peek of Lucky Paradox!
This week I have made some changes in what I had planned to do, however, after all I think it has been totally worth all the effort.
First, I must mention that the translation of the game is already finished. So, we only need to finish the graphics and programming for the next build to be completed.
Besides that, I know there has been a lot of confusion about the new version, since there are still people who think it's a remake, others think it's a reboot, but at this point, this is Lucky Paradox 2.0, something like the Shooting Star Version xD
Although the above has given me an existential doubt and is that personally I would like to update the graphics engine of the game, this way I could add more features to the game, not to mention that many problems could be easily solved, such as some bugs that have appeared in the Android versions (Damn Android 11 xD) or add a more elaborate and simpler inventory system. However, such a change would result in a loss of game saves.
Personally, I am someone who prefers to consider the long term and I think that, despite the sacrifice of the game saves, making this update would be the wisest decision and I also think that it is the perfect time to do this. However, before making a change, I would prefer to hear your opinions, maybe making a poll would not be a bad idea.
It is also difficult to predict if in the future there won't be problems with games from previous versions and that is a concern.
Another drastic decision I have made during this week has been related to the Miss Pumpkin. The current state of that place is unattractive or downright ugly, so when comparing the new graphical improvements of the game, I really notices that this looks much better than before. And it's not just bad textures, but the design is lazy for what it should represent.
A bit of context with slight spoilers: SPOILER ALERT
The Miss Pumpkin is a place built by Layla's grandfather decades ago, who was a man of science who wanted to escape technology and have a more rural life (Quite the opposite, to Layla's story). So he decided to build the Miss Pumpkin using the trees he cut down from Argleton, when it was an even smaller town than the one seen in the game.
Therefore, it should have a more rustic presentation and I thought that redesigning the whole place, as if it had been built with tree trunks, would be an idea that better reflects this whole concept. So, even though I said I would only make a few small changes, I decided to destroy the Miss Pumpkin and create a new one but with steroids.
This is not just a graphical improvement, but a complete redesign while keeping the base structure. This has happened with all the interiors of the place, so that it has an even more rustic tone than before.
Even Layla's room has been recreated, as the previous one was a mess. It now has many more details that show Layla's personality, with tools lying everywhere, piles of quickly sorted books and blackboards for math and physics calculations.
I know that making this change results in having to redo a lot of renderings, but it's a sacrifice I've decided to make. I feel much more excited about showing all these changes, rather than continuing to build on something I didn't like at all.
Since I spent many hours working on the redesign of the place, I have not been able to advance so much in the amount of renders. So this week 250 renders and two animations have been done. So far the update has 1200 new renders, divided between the story and the new interface.
This is the moment when we meet Gia for the first time. It may not look like it, but the comparison and the atmosphere generated in the new version is much better.
I'm also excited to make these improvements, because one of the next side stories that will come in Lucky Paradox, is precisely the story of Gia. Moments during which we will be able to know many more details about Miss Pumpkin.
I hope you like these changes as much as I do, I think they will give much more life to the place, as it will be a place that will take more prominence during Gia's story.
And that's all for this week!
I think it took me longer than I expected hahaha
As always, I want to thank everyone who has helped the game either with a donation or a nice review <3
I send you a big hug from afar and see you soon with more news!

Having to start over for long term improvements is probably the right choice, but maybe you could introduce some way to cheat in order to boost our stats and money? Grinding for that stuff to get back where I was just takes so long, and I would rather focus on the story events.
At least personally, I have no problems with having to start the game over from scratch. I usually do that with new updates anyway (although, I often decide to make exceptions to that rule when a game has this much content already) and considering the intricacies of the story I think it will be good for me to start from the beginning anyway as it will make it easier to avoid some of the confusion that the first time can easily come with. Remembering all those names and details in the lore can be tricky after all.
"I would prefer to hear your opinions"
i'd rather just see the game finished in its current form.
this is starting to feel like the wait for the final book of game of thrones to be released, which has now reached the "its been a decade" mark, cos he keeps wanting to make improvements.
I wouldn't mind another play-through from the beginning, especially since I started out "wishing the author didn't waste so much time on fricking dialogue"; it took a while for me to notice the story actually had real appeal and I humbly apologize for not appreciating from the start.
Great game, fantastic story! The girls are nice too!
My only question is, will you add more interaction with gia?
yea same here it would suck to loose the whole progress we made but on the other side we get to get back into the game again with better graphics and long term it might even speed up more frequent updates ( heres to hoping :P ), though i do see what tons of work you put into it and your doing an awsome job at that
Considering you're reworking the start of the game, anyone who who wants to see it has to restart anyway. I say go for it.
The remodeling looks great. On one hand, I'd hate to give up all the progress I've made in the game, but on the other hand, it would give me the opportunity to enjoy all the changes you've made from the beginning. I'm starting to lean toward the second view after reading this post. I really appreciate all the hard work you've done.
I already said that I'd start all the way from the beginning, and that hasn't changed. So the only thing I have to say is: people gotta learn that sacrifices are needed in life. There's a lot of things that you can (and sometimes should) cry over, but losing a save game, doesn't matter how big it is, isn't one of them.
I plan to start over and on a PC rather than Android with the new release.
Everything looks great, and i was originally concerned about game saves, but honestly im definitely up for the change if its necessary to bring your image of the game to life. Thank you again for this amazing game.
